In September 2002, the government of Vietnam decided a new international passenger terminal and incidental facilities needed to be constructed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport to meet the rapidly rising demand for travel and to improve the quality of services. It requested cooperation from the government of Japan. The Japanese agency JICA responded with a special Japanese ODA loan.
JAC was selected as a consultant by the Southern Airports Corporation (now the Airports Corporation of Vietnam), which is the executing agency at the airport. The work JAC provided included a wide range of consulting services from design to general contracting.
The new terminal was completed in July 2007 and went into service the following month.
