Construction work began on New Ishigaki Airport in October 2006 and the airport opened on March 7, 2013. It is known to locals as the Airport of the Southern (Okinawan) Islands. JAC's work here has been primarily design and on-site construction monitoring of airfield lighting facilities that ran from 2005 to 2013. JAC has also been involved in design and related construction monitoring of CNS/ATM facilities. Other related work includes designs and construction monitoring for the Japan Coast Guard's Ishigaki air base.
